It’s been almost six years since Game of Thrones first premiered on HBO, and fans have been eagerly waiting for the final season to see who will sit on the Iron Throne. With only six episodes in the final season, the Battle of Winterfell was one of the most anticipated moments of the series. S8E3, which aired on April 28, 2019, saw the biggest battle in TV history, and fans couldn’t help but react to the epic fight scene with hilarious memes.

The Night King’s Death: Memes Galore

The biggest moment of the Battle of Winterfell came when Arya Stark killed the Night King, putting an end to the White Walkers’ threat. Fans were quick to create memes about the moment, with some showing Arya as a superhero and others making fun of Bran Stark’s plan to lure the Night King to the Godswood.

One meme showed Arya holding a lightsaber, with the caption “Arya Stark, Jedi Knight.” Another one had Bran Stark saying “I lured him here,” and the Night King responding “You did good, kid,” with a thumbs-up. Fans also joked about how the Night King’s death made the other White Walkers fall like dominoes, with some comparing it to a game of Jenga.

Jon Snow’s Useless Screaming

Another moment that fans couldn’t help but make fun of was Jon Snow’s useless screaming at the undead dragon. Fans created memes about Jon’s futile attempt to stop the dragon, with some comparing it to yelling at a printer or a vending machine that won’t give you your snack.

One meme showed Jon with a microphone, with the caption “Testing, testing, one, two, three,” while another had him screaming “Dracarys” like Daenerys Targaryen, only to have the dragon ignore him. Fans also joked about how Jon’s screaming was probably what woke up all the dead in the crypts, leading to a bloodbath.

Fans React to the Deaths of Their Favorite Characters

The Battle of Winterfell saw the deaths of several beloved characters, including Jorah Mormont, Theon Greyjoy, and Lyanna Mormont. Fans were devastated by the deaths and took to social media to express their emotions through memes.

One meme showed Jorah and Lyanna entering the afterlife, with the caption “The North remembers,” while another had Theon saying “I’m sorry” to Bran, who responded “The things we do for love.” Fans also joked about how Lyanna Mormont’s death was the only one that made them cry, while others created memes about how they were rooting for the Night King to win because they were so heartbroken by the deaths.

Comments from Fans

“I can’t stop laughing at the Arya memes, she really is a superhero!” – @GOTfan21

“Jon Snow screaming at the dragon was so funny, I almost fell off my chair!” – @WinterIsComing

“I’m not crying, you’re crying! Theon deserved better!” – @StarkFan4Life

Conclusion

The Battle of Winterfell was one of the biggest moments in Game of Thrones history, and fans couldn’t help but react to it with hilarious memes. From Arya’s superhero moment to Jon’s useless screaming, the memes captured the best and worst moments of the episode. While fans were devastated by the deaths of their favorite characters, they found solace in the humor and creativity of the memes. As the final season of Game of Thrones came to an end, the memes will live on as a testament to the show’s impact on pop culture.

Game of Thrones has undoubtedly been one of the most popular TV series of all time. The show, which aired from 2011 to 2019, was based on George R. R. Martin’s book series A Song of Ice and Fire. Over the years, the show has amassed a huge fan following – and with that, a plethora of memes. These memes, often taking inspiration from TV Tropes, have become an integral part of the Game of Thrones experience. In this article, we’ll take a deep dive into the world of TV Tropes Game of Thrones memes.

What are TV Tropes?

TV Tropes is a website that catalogs the various storytelling devices and conventions used in media. Some of the most popular tropes include the “Big Bad,” “The Chosen One,” and “The Hero’s Journey.” Essentially, TV Tropes aims to identify the patterns that exist in storytelling across different mediums, such as TV shows, movies, and books.

Game of Thrones is no exception – in fact, the show is rife with TV Tropes. For example, the “The Hero’s Journey” trope is prevalent in the character arcs of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. Meanwhile, the “Big Bad” trope is embodied by characters such as Cersei Lannister and the Night King.

How do TV Tropes relate to Game of Thrones memes?

Many Game of Thrones memes take inspiration from TV Tropes. For example, the “Winter Is Coming” meme is based on the show’s use of foreshadowing – a common trope in storytelling. Similarly, the “Valar Morghulis” meme – which translates to “all men must die” – is based on the show’s use of a recurring catchphrase.

However, not all Game of Thrones memes are based on TV Tropes. Some memes are simply a result of the show’s shocking plot twists and memorable characters. For example, the “Red Wedding” meme – which refers to a particularly gruesome scene in the show – has become one of the most well-known Game of Thrones memes.

The Top TV Tropes Game of Thrones Memes

There are countless Game of Thrones memes out there, but here are a few of the most popular ones:

The “Winter Is Coming” Meme

The “Winter Is Coming” meme is based on the Stark family’s motto, which serves as a warning of the impending doom that is the White Walkers. The meme has been used to convey various messages, from the arrival of winter to the release of a new season of Game of Thrones.

“I love the ‘Winter Is Coming’ meme,” says Game of Thrones fan Sarah. “It’s such an iconic phrase, and it’s been used in so many creative ways.”

The “Valar Morghulis” Meme

The “Valar Morghulis” meme is based on the phrase spoken by the Faceless Men, a group of assassins in the show. The meme has been used to convey the idea that all men must die, as well as to make jokes about the show’s numerous deaths.

“The ‘Valar Morghulis’ meme is one of my favorites,” says Game of Thrones fan John. “It’s so catchy, and it always makes me laugh.”

The “Hodor” Meme

The “Hodor” meme is based on the character of the same name, who only says the word “Hodor” throughout the series. The meme has been used to convey confusion, frustration, and even excitement.

“The ‘Hodor’ meme is hilarious,” says Game of Thrones fan Emily. “It’s such a simple concept, but it’s been used in so many creative ways.”

Conclusion

TV Tropes Game of Thrones memes have become an integral part of the show’s culture. Whether they’re based on storytelling devices or simply a result of the show’s shocking moments, these memes have helped to keep the show alive in the minds of fans long after it ended. So, the next time you come across a Game of Thrones meme, take a moment to appreciate the cleverness behind it.
