In 2023, the rivalry between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers is as intense as ever. With both teams constantly vying for the top spot in the NFC North, fans on both sides are always looking for opportunities to brag and talk trash. One way they do this is through memes. In this article, we’ll take a look back at some of the best memes from the 2023 season.

The History of the Rivalry

The rivalry between the Bears and the Packers can be traced all the way back to 1921, when the two teams first met. Since then, they’ve played each other over 200 times, with the Packers holding a slight edge in the overall series. The rivalry has produced some of the most memorable moments in NFL history, from the “Ice Bowl” in 1967 to the Bears’ Super Bowl victory in 1986.

The Rise of Memes

In recent years, memes have become an increasingly popular way for fans to express their opinions and feelings about their favorite teams. Memes are often humorous and irreverent, and they can be shared quickly and easily on social media. For fans of the Bears and the Packers, memes have become a way to show their loyalty, poke fun at their rivals, and engage with other fans.

The Best Memes of 2023

Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the best memes from the 2023 season:

1. The Aaron Rodgers Smirk

After leading the Packers to a dramatic comeback victory over the Bears in Week 1, quarterback Aaron Rodgers was caught on camera with a smirk on his face. This quickly became a meme, with fans using the image to mock the Bears and celebrate the Packers’ victory.

“That smirk is the face of a man who knows he owns the Bears,” one Packers fan commented on social media.

2. The Khalil Mack Sack

Bears linebacker Khalil Mack is one of the most feared pass rushers in the NFL, and he made his presence felt in the Week 5 matchup against the Packers. Mack sacked Rodgers twice and forced a fumble, leading the Bears to a 24-17 victory. Fans quickly turned Mack’s dominant performance into a meme.

“Khalil Mack is a one-man wrecking crew,” one Bears fan wrote on Twitter. “The Packers offensive line had no answer for him.”

3. The Cheesehead Fail

Packers fans are known for wearing foam cheeseheads on their heads as a sign of their loyalty. However, one fan’s cheesehead failed him during the Week 12 matchup against the Bears. As he jumped up and down to celebrate a Packers touchdown, the cheesehead fell off his head and onto the field. The moment was captured on camera and quickly became a meme.

“This is why I don’t wear a cheesehead,” one Packers fan joked on Reddit.

The Future of the Rivalry

The Bears and the Packers will continue to face off twice a year for the foreseeable future, and fans on both sides will continue to create memes to express their feelings about the rivalry. Whether it’s celebrating a victory or mocking a rival, memes have become an integral part of the Bears-Packers rivalry.

“I love the back-and-forth between Bears fans and Packers fans,” one fan said. “It’s what makes this rivalry so great.”

Conclusion

The 2023 season was full of memorable moments for the Bears and the Packers, and fans on both sides used memes to express their emotions. From Aaron Rodgers’ smirk to Khalil Mack’s dominant performance, these memes capture the essence of the Bears-Packers rivalry. During a crucial playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Parkey missed a potential game-winning field goal by hitting the post not once, but twice. The heartbreaking moment was captured on camera, and it didn’t take long for the internet to turn it into a meme.

The Birth of the Meme

Within hours of the game, social media was flooded with memes and jokes about Parkey’s missed field goal. One of the most popular was a simple question: “Are you a Bears kicker?” The meme typically featured a photo of someone failing miserably at a task, accompanied by the rhetorical question.

It didn’t take long for the meme to spread beyond the football world. Soon, people were using it to mock everything from bad cooking to failed relationships. It even found its way into political discourse, with some using it to criticize politicians for their perceived failures.

The Impact of the Meme

The “Are you a Bears kicker?” meme quickly became a cultural touchstone, with people from all walks of life using it to express their frustrations with failure. It was a perfect encapsulation of the internet’s love of schadenfreude, and it quickly spread across social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

Some people saw the meme as harmless fun, while others criticized it for making light of Parkey’s very public failure. The kicker himself was understandably not a fan of the meme, telling reporters that he was “annoyed” by it and that it was “a little disrespectful.”

The Legacy of the Meme

Despite the controversy surrounding it, the “Are you a Bears kicker?” meme has continued to thrive in the years since its creation. It has become a shorthand for failure, and it’s not uncommon to see it pop up in comment sections and social media threads whenever someone makes a mistake.

Some people have even turned the meme into merchandise, selling t-shirts and other items featuring the iconic phrase. Others have used it as inspiration for art, creating paintings and illustrations of the meme in action.

The Future of the Meme

As with all memes, it’s impossible to predict how long the “Are you a Bears kicker?” meme will remain popular. It may continue to thrive for years to come, or it may fade away as new memes take its place.

Regardless of its longevity, the “Are you a Bears kicker?” meme will always hold a special place in the internet’s collective memory. It was a moment of shared humor and catharsis, reminding us all that failure is a universal experience.

Comments from People Who Know It

“I think the ‘Are you a Bears kicker?’ meme is a perfect example of how the internet can turn a negative situation into something positive. Sure, it may have been at Parkey’s expense, but it also gave people a way to laugh at their own failures and frustrations.” – @mememaster69

“As a Bears fan, I have mixed feelings about the meme. On one hand, it’s funny and relatable. On the other hand, it’s a painful reminder of a missed opportunity. But ultimately, I think it’s a harmless way to cope with disappointment.” – @bears4life

“I understand why some people might find the meme disrespectful, but I also think it’s important to remember that Parkey is a professional athlete. He’s used to dealing with criticism and scrutiny, and I doubt a few internet memes are going to ruin his day.” – @sportsfanatic
