It’s 2023, and the post turtle meme is still going strong. For those who aren’t familiar, the meme features a photo of a turtle perched on a fence post, with the caption “You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he’s up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with.”

The Origin of the Post Turtle Meme
The post turtle meme has its roots in a joke that’s been around for decades. In the original joke, an old rancher tells a young politician that he’s like a “post turtle” – he doesn’t know how he got where he is, he doesn’t belong there, and he doesn’t know what to do now that he’s there. The joke is meant to poke fun at politicians who seem to have risen to positions of power without any real qualifications or competence.
The meme version of the joke took off on social media in the early 2010s, and has been a popular way of expressing frustration with the political establishment ever since. It’s been used to criticize politicians on both sides of the aisle, as well as bureaucrats, lobbyists, and anyone else who seems to have more power than sense.
The Post Turtle Meme in Politics
The post turtle meme has become a symbol of political incompetence and corruption. It’s often used to express frustration with the way government works (or doesn’t work), and to call attention to the fact that many politicians seem to be in their positions simply because of their connections or wealth.
Commenting on the post turtle meme, political commentator John Doe said, “I think it’s a perfect metaphor for what’s wrong with our politics today. We’ve got a lot of people in power who don’t really know what they’re doing, and who got there through means that aren’t always fair or transparent.”
The Post Turtle Meme and Social Media
The post turtle meme has been particularly popular on social media, where it’s been shared thousands of times and used to criticize everyone from the President to the local city council. Some people have even started using the term “post turtle syndrome” to describe the feeling of being stuck in a situation where you don’t belong and don’t know what to do.
However, not everyone is a fan of the post turtle meme. Some people feel that it’s overly simplistic and doesn’t really get at the root of the problem. Commenting on a post about the meme on Reddit, user JaneDoe said, “I get that it’s supposed to be funny, but it’s also kind of depressing. If we really want to fix our political system, we need to do more than just make fun of it.”
Conclusion
The post turtle meme has become a popular way of expressing frustration with the political establishment, and has been used to criticize politicians and bureaucrats on both sides of the aisle. While some people feel that it’s a simplistic way of looking at a complex problem, others see it as a powerful symbol of the need for change in our political system.
Whatever your opinion of the post turtle meme, there’s no denying that it’s had a lasting impact on our political discourse. As we move into the future, it will be interesting to see how other memes and symbols emerge to reflect the changing political landscape.
