The Birth of Cat Memes
Believe it or not, cat memes have been around since the early days of the internet. The first cat meme is said to have been created in 1998, when a cartoonist named Eric Goodwin posted a picture of his cat with the caption “I can has cheezburger?” on a message board. The meme took off and soon became a sensation. Over the years, cat memes have only grown in popularity, with new ones being created every day.
Why We Love Cat Memes
So what is it about cat memes that make them so appealing? For starters, cats are just plain cute. There’s something about their adorable little faces and silly antics that makes us smile. But beyond that, cat memes are relatable. Whether it’s a grumpy cat who hates Mondays or a kitten who can’t resist a cardboard box, we see a little bit of ourselves in these furry felines.
But perhaps the biggest reason we love cat memes is that they’re just plain funny. Whether it’s a clever pun or a silly scenario, cat memes never fail to make us laugh. And in a world that can often be stressful and overwhelming, a good laugh is always appreciated.

Nyan Cat
Nyan Cat is a bit different than your typical cat meme. Instead of a photo, it’s a cartoon cat with a Pop-Tart for a body that flies through space, leaving behind a rainbow trail. But despite its oddness, Nyan Cat has become a beloved internet icon.
Ceiling Cat
Ceiling Cat is another classic cat meme. The original photo shows a cat peeking down from a hole in the ceiling, and it’s often used to imply that someone is watching over you. It’s been parodied countless times and has even spawned its own spin-off memes.
