As the new school year approaches, teachers all around the world are gearing up for another year of lesson plans, grading, and classroom management. However, despite the stress that comes with the job, teachers always find ways to inject some humor into their daily routines. This year, memes about going back to school are all the rage, and we’ve compiled some of the best ones for you to enjoy.
Table of Contents
The Classics
Some memes have been around for years and still manage to make us laugh. One of these classics is the “First Day of School” meme, featuring a picture of a student who is clearly not ready to be back in the classroom. Another timeless favorite is the “Teacher Summer Break” meme, which shows a teacher gleefully throwing papers in the air in celebration of the end of the school year.
According to Jennifer, a high school English teacher, “these memes always make me laugh because they’re so relatable. Every teacher has experienced the dread of the first day back or the joy of summer break.”
The COVID Edition
Of course, this year’s memes have a unique twist – COVID-19. Teachers are not only dealing with the usual back-to-school stress, but also the added pressure of keeping themselves and their students safe from the virus. One popular meme shows a teacher wearing a mask with the caption “I can’t wait to see all my students’ faces…in 2022.”
Another meme that has been making the rounds is the “Virtual Classroom” meme, featuring a picture of a teacher trying to navigate online teaching tools. According to Mike, a middle school science teacher, “switching to virtual learning was tough for everyone, but at least we could commiserate over these memes.”
The Teacher’s Pet
One meme that has been particularly popular among teachers is the “Teacher’s Pet” meme, which features a picture of a student who is clearly trying to win over their teacher with compliments and gifts. According to Maria, a third-grade teacher, “I always get a kick out of these because it’s so true – there’s always that one student who wants to be your favorite.”
The Controversial Ones
Of course, not all memes are created equal. Some have caused controversy among educators, such as the “Bad Teacher” meme, which shows a teacher drinking on the job. According to Emma, a high school history teacher, “I understand that memes are supposed to be funny, but I think we need to be careful not to perpetuate negative stereotypes about teachers.”
The Bottom Line
At the end of the day, memes about going back to school are a fun way for teachers to bond over the shared experience of teaching. Whether they’re classics or COVID-themed, these memes offer a much-needed break from the stress of the job.
