The release of the Google Pixel 3 XL in 2018 was met with mixed reviews. While the phone boasted impressive features and a sleek design, there was one aspect that left many users scratching their heads: the notch. The notch, a small cutout at the top of the phone’s screen, was meant to house the phone’s front-facing camera and sensors. However, many users found the notch to be unsightly and distracting. And thus, the Pixel 3 XL notch memes were born.

A Brief History of the Notch
The notch wasn’t unique to the Pixel 3 XL. In fact, it had been introduced by Apple on the iPhone X in 2017. The notch was meant to allow for a larger screen size while still housing the phone’s front-facing camera and sensors. While some users found the notch to be a necessary design element, others found it to be a distraction from the phone’s otherwise sleek design. When Google announced that the Pixel 3 XL would also feature a notch, many users were disappointed. The notch on the Pixel 3 XL was larger than the one on the iPhone X, and it seemed to be more prominent on the phone’s screen. And so, the internet responded in the only way it knows how: with memes.

Responses from the Community
While the Pixel 3 XL notch memes were certainly hilarious, not everyone found them to be amusing. Some users felt that the memes were mean-spirited and that they unfairly targeted the Pixel 3 XL. Others felt that the memes were a natural response to a poorly designed phone. One Reddit user commented, “The Pixel 3 XL’s notch is just so distracting. I can’t believe they thought it was a good idea. But I do have to admit, some of the memes are pretty funny.” Another user wrote, “I think the memes are just a way for people to express their frustration with the phone’s design. It’s not necessarily mean-spirited, it’s just a way to cope with a phone that doesn’t look as good as it should.”
Conclusion
