The Origin of the Meme
The “Woman Yelling at Cat” meme originated from a scene in the second season of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” In the episode, Taylor Armstrong is seen yelling at her fellow cast member, Camille Grammer, during a heated argument. The scene quickly became a meme on its own, with people using Armstrong’s expression to convey their own frustration or anger.
The cat, on the other hand, comes from a photo of a white cat named Smudge, who was posted on Tumblr in 2018. The photo shows Smudge sitting at a dinner table with a plate of vegetables in front of him, looking unimpressed. The photo quickly went viral and became a popular reaction meme, with people using it to express their own disapproval or indifference.
It wasn’t until later that the two images were combined to create the “Woman Yelling at Cat” meme. The earliest known use of the meme was in May 2019, when Twitter user @MISSINGEGIRL tweeted the image with the caption “these photos together is making me lose it.” The tweet quickly went viral, and the meme took off from there.
The Meaning Behind the Meme

Some people see it as a representation of the classic “woman yelling at cat” argument, where the woman is angry and irrational and the cat is indifferent and unimpressed.
