It’s the meme that took the internet by storm in 2023 and still has people laughing to this day. From social media to group chats, “I’m Wheezing” has become a household phrase. But where did it come from? And what makes it so hilarious? Let’s dive in.
The Origin Story
The “I’m Wheezing” meme originated from a viral video posted on TikTok by user @jenniferrr. In the video, Jennifer is seen trying on a pair of pants that are clearly too small for her. As she struggles to button them, she can be heard wheezing and laughing at the same time. The video quickly went viral, and before long, people were using the audio to create their own videos.
One of the earliest and most popular examples of the meme was a video posted by Twitter user @dylanobrien. In the video, Dylan can be seen struggling to open a jar of pickles. As he finally manages to get it open, he exclaims “I’m Wheezing!” The video quickly gained traction and became one of the most shared memes of the year.
The Appeal
So why did the “I’m Wheezing” meme resonate with so many people? For starters, it’s relatable. We’ve all been in situations where we’ve struggled to do something, whether it’s opening a jar or fitting into a pair of pants. The meme also has a self-deprecating element to it, as the person in the video is laughing at themselves and their own struggles.
But perhaps the biggest appeal of the meme is its versatility. The audio can be used in a variety of situations, from expressing excitement to reacting to something funny. This has led to countless variations of the meme, each one funnier than the last.
The Response
The response to the “I’m Wheezing” meme has been overwhelmingly positive. People from all over the world have taken to social media to share their own versions of the meme, and it has become a staple in online culture. Even celebrities have gotten in on the fun, with everyone from Chrissy Teigen to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson sharing their own “I’m Wheezing” videos.
But not everyone is a fan of the meme. Some people have criticized it for being overused or not funny. Others have expressed concern that the meme is making light of respiratory issues such as asthma. However, for the most part, the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
How to Make Your Own “I’m Wheezing” Meme
If you want to join in on the fun and create your own “I’m Wheezing” meme, it’s easy to do. Simply download the audio from the original TikTok video or one of the many variations that have been created. Then, create a video of yourself reacting to something in a humorous way, using the audio to emphasize your laughter or excitement.
One important thing to keep in mind is to be respectful. While the “I’m Wheezing” meme is meant to be lighthearted and fun, it’s important not to make fun of people with respiratory issues or use the meme in a way that could be perceived as hurtful or offensive.
