The Origins of Catherine McKenna Memes

The first Catherine McKenna meme appeared on Reddit in 2016, featuring a photo of the minister wearing a hard hat and safety vest while visiting a construction site. The image was quickly shared and captioned with various jokes and puns, poking fun at her serious expression and the context of the photo.

The Impact of Catherine McKenna Memes

The meme often portrays McKenna as overly serious or bossy, playing on sexist tropes that women who are assertive or confident are unlikable. The meme has also spawned merchandise, including t-shirts and mugs emblazoned with McKenna’s image and catchphrases from the memes.
