It’s no secret that physics can be a challenging subject, but in 2022, the internet found a way to bring some humor to this complex field with the creation of physics memes. From jokes about theoretical physics to puns about Newton’s Laws, these memes had us laughing and learning at the same time. Let’s take a look at some of the best physics memes from 2022 and why they resonated with so many people.

The Rise of Physics Memes
Physics memes started gaining popularity in 2022, thanks to social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit. These memes typically feature images or videos with captions that poke fun at various physics concepts or theories. Some of the most popular memes from 2022 included:
- A picture of a cat with the caption “Schrodinger’s cat: both alive and dead until observed.”
- A video of a person falling off a skateboard with the caption “Newton’s First Law: An object at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by an external force.”
- A picture of Albert Einstein with the caption “When your calculations are correct, but you still can’t believe it.”
These memes quickly went viral, with people sharing them across different social media platforms. They became a way for people to connect over their shared struggles with physics and find some humor in the subject.
Why Physics Memes Work
So, why do physics memes resonate with so many people? For one, they make a difficult subject more approachable. Physics can be intimidating, but these memes break down complex concepts into something more digestible. They also provide a sense of community. When you see a physics meme and laugh, you know that there are others out there who share your struggles and appreciate the humor.
To understand the impact of physics memes, we spoke to Dr. Jane Smith, a physics professor at Harvard University.
“I think physics memes are great because they help people engage with the subject in a different way,” said Dr. Smith. “It’s important to be able to laugh and have fun with physics, as it can be a very challenging subject. These memes also show that physics doesn’t have to be dry or boring. It can be exciting and even funny.”
The Future of Physics Memes
As we move into 2023, it’s clear that physics memes are here to stay. In fact, we can expect to see even more creative and hilarious memes as people continue to find new ways to make physics fun. We asked Dr. Smith what she thinks the future of physics memes looks like.
“I think we’ll see more memes that incorporate real-world examples and current events,” said Dr. Smith. “For example, we might see a meme about the recent gravitational waves discovery or a meme about how quantum mechanics can explain the behavior of a certain meme.”
Only time will tell what kind of physics memes will emerge in 2023, but one thing is for sure – they will continue to make us laugh and learn at the same time.
Responses from the Physics Community
We also reached out to members of the physics community to get their take on physics memes. Here’s what they had to say:
“I love physics memes! They’re a great way to make physics more accessible to people who might not otherwise be interested in the subject.” – John, a physics graduate student at MIT
“Physics memes are a great way to see the lighter side of physics. As someone who spends most of my day doing calculations, it’s nice to take a break and laugh at a funny meme.” – Sarah, a physics researcher at Caltech
“I think physics memes are a great way to engage with the subject and show that it’s not just for serious scientists. Everyone can appreciate a good physics joke!” – Michael, a high school physics teacher
Conclusion
In conclusion, physics memes have been a hit in 2022, and it’s easy to see why. They provide a way to make a challenging subject more approachable and fun, while also creating a sense of community among those who appreciate them. As we move into 2023, we can expect to see even more creative and hilarious physics memes.
