In the early 2010s, a new meme emerged on the internet that would take the world by storm. It all started with a simple image of Kermit the Frog, one of the beloved characters from the Muppets franchise, screaming in frustration. Little did anyone know that this image would become a viral sensation and a cultural touchstone for years to come.
The Origins of the Kermit Meme
The Kermit the Frog screaming meme originated from a scene in the Muppets Most Wanted movie, released in 2014. In the scene, Kermit is falsely accused of being an international criminal and is thrown into a Russian prison. As the other prisoners taunt him, Kermit loses his cool and screams in frustration, which is where the meme image comes from.
Soon after the movie’s release, the image began circulating on social media platforms like Twitter, Tumblr, and Reddit. Users would add their own captions to the image, often using it to express their own frustrations or to make a humorous observation about a particular situation. The meme became so popular that it spawned countless variations, including “evil Kermit” and “sipping tea Kermit.”
The Legacy of the Kermit Meme
The Kermit the Frog screaming meme has become an iconic image in internet culture, with many people using it as a shorthand for expressing their own frustrations or as a way to inject humor into a conversation. The meme has been referenced in countless television shows, movies, and even political campaigns, cementing its place in pop culture history.
Despite its ubiquity, the Kermit meme has also faced criticism from some who argue that it perpetuates negative stereotypes about frogs and other amphibians. However, many fans of the meme argue that it is harmless fun and that it has helped to bring people together by creating a shared cultural experience.

Next, think about the message you want to convey with your meme. Do you want to make people laugh, express your frustration, or make a political statement? Whatever your goal, make sure your caption or text overlays are clear and concise.
