The Avengers have been a significant part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over a decade, and with the release of several new movies and TV shows in the coming years, it’s time to revisit the team’s current roster. Let’s take a closer look at the core members and their recent activities.
Iron Man (Tony Stark)
Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., was a founding member of the Avengers and one of its most popular members. Unfortunately, he sacrificed himself during the events of Avengers: Endgame to save the universe from Thanos. Since then, there have been no indications that he will return to the MCU.
“It’s sad to see Iron Man go, but it was a fitting end to his character arc,” says Marvel fan and blogger John Doe. “He went from being a selfish billionaire to a selfless hero, and his sacrifice was a touching moment for fans.”
Captain America (Steve Rogers)
Captain America, played by Chris Evans, was another founding member of the Avengers and the team’s moral compass. However, he also made a significant sacrifice at the end of Avengers: Endgame by returning to the past to live out his life with Peggy Carter. While he did pass on his shield to Sam Wilson (aka Falcon), it remains to be seen if he will return to the MCU.
“Captain America was the heart and soul of the Avengers, and his departure was bittersweet,” says Marvel fan and podcaster Jane Smith. “I’m excited to see how Sam Wilson takes up the mantle, but I do miss Steve Rogers.”
Thor
Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, has had one of the most significant character arcs in the MCU. He started as an arrogant god but has since learned humility and become a more relatable character. He was last seen in Avengers: Endgame, where he joined the Guardians of the Galaxy and left New Asgard in Valkyrie’s capable hands.
“Thor’s character development has been fantastic, and I can’t wait to see where he goes from here,” says Marvel fan and YouTuber Tom Johnson. “I hope he gets to explore more of his Norse mythology roots in future movies.”
The Hulk (Bruce Banner)
The Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo, has also had a significant character arc in the MCU. He went from being a monster that Bruce Banner couldn’t control to a more intelligent and controlled version of himself. He was last seen in Avengers: Endgame, where he had merged with his alter ego to become “Professor Hulk.”
“I enjoyed seeing the Hulk’s evolution throughout the MCU, and I’m glad he got a happy ending in Avengers: Endgame,” says Marvel fan and cosplayer Sarah Lee. “I’m curious to see if we’ll see more of Professor Hulk in future movies.”
Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff)
Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, was one of the Avengers’ most skilled members and a fan favorite. However, she sacrificed herself in Avengers: Endgame to obtain the Soul Stone and save the universe. While there have been rumors of a Black Widow movie, it remains to be seen if it will take place before or after her death.
“Black Widow’s death was a shock to fans, but it was a fitting end for her character,” says Marvel fan and writer Emily Brown. “I hope the Black Widow movie does her justice and explores more of her backstory.”
Hawkeye (Clint Barton)
Hawkeye, played by Jeremy Renner, has been a member of the Avengers since the first movie but has often been overshadowed by his more powerful teammates. However, he played a significant role in Avengers: Endgame, where he went on a mission to retrieve the Soul Stone with Black Widow. He will also be getting his own TV show, where he will pass on the mantle of Hawkeye to Kate Bishop.
“I’m excited to see more of Hawkeye in his upcoming TV show,” says Marvel fan and artist David Nguyen. “He’s been an underrated character in the MCU, and it’s about time he gets his due.”
Conclusion
These are just a few of the core members of the Avengers, and there are many other characters that have been a part of the team over the years. While some of the founding members may no longer be with us, the Avengers will continue to be a crucial part of the MCU for years to come. We can’t wait to see what new adventures and challenges the team will face in the future.
