The year 2019 was a monumental one for Marvel fans, as the culmination of over a decade of storytelling came to a head with Avengers: Endgame. The film, which saw the Avengers attempt to undo the damage caused by Thanos in Infinity War, was an emotional rollercoaster that had fans laughing, crying, and cheering in equal measure. But in addition to the movie’s gripping storyline, Endgame also gave rise to a plethora of hilarious memes that have continued to circulate online years after its release. Here are some of the best memes that have come out of Avengers: Endgame.
The “I Love You 3000” Meme
One of the most touching moments in Endgame comes when Tony Stark’s daughter, Morgan, tells him that she loves him 3000. This phrase quickly became a catchphrase among fans, who used it to express their love for anything from their significant others to their favorite pizza toppings. The meme often features a picture of Tony and Morgan, with the text “I love you 3000” overlaid on top.
“The ‘I Love You 3000’ meme is one of my favorites,” says Marvel superfan and meme enthusiast, Sarah. “It’s just such a sweet moment in the movie, and it’s been fun to see how people have used it to express their own love and appreciation for things.”
The “On Your Left” Meme
In Endgame, Captain America utters the phrase “on your left” as he appears suddenly on Sam Wilson’s left during a battle scene. This moment has been immortalized in meme form, with people using it to express their own sudden appearances or to poke fun at those who are always late.
“I love the ‘on your left’ meme because it’s so versatile,” says longtime Marvel fan, John. “You can use it in so many different contexts, and it always gets a laugh.”
The “America’s Ass” Meme
One of the most memorable moments in Endgame comes when Scott Lang (AKA Ant-Man) comments on Captain America’s posterior, calling it “America’s ass.” This line has become a fan favorite and has been used to express admiration for everything from patriotic clothing to other people’s butts.
“The ‘America’s ass’ meme is hilarious because it’s so unexpected,” says Sarah. “It’s not something you would expect a superhero to say, but it’s also kind of endearing in a way.”
The “I Knew It” Meme
Another standout moment in Endgame comes when Thor’s mother, Frigga, tells him that she knows he’s from the future. This line has been used to express smug satisfaction when someone’s predictions come true or to make fun of people who are always stating the obvious.
“The ‘I knew it’ meme is great because it’s a perfect encapsulation of that feeling you get when you’re proven right,” says John. “It’s fun to use when you want to rub someone’s nose in it a little bit.”
The “Hulk-ified” Meme
One of the biggest surprises in Endgame comes when Bruce Banner finally manages to merge his brain with the Hulk’s brawn, creating a new persona known as “Professor Hulk.” This transformation has been used in memes to represent everything from people who have finally gotten their act together to those who have embraced their inner nerd.
