How To Write "Cough Cough" In Text

Chronic Cough and Pain Demonstrate Bidirectional Association Clinical
Chronic Cough and Pain Demonstrate Bidirectional Association Clinical from www.clinicalpainadvisor.com

If you’re an avid texter or someone who communicates online often, you may have come across a situation where you need to convey that you’re coughing. While coughing in person may be a simple act, writing it out can be a bit more challenging. In this article, we’ll discuss the various ways you can write “cough cough” in text.

The Basics

The most common way to write “cough cough” in text is simply by typing it out twice. For example:

“I’m not feeling well today cough cough.”

However, some people may prefer to use other variations, such as:

  • “*cough cough*”
  • “**cough cough**”
  • “(cough cough)”

These alternatives can add emphasis to the coughing sound and help the reader better understand the context.

Why Write “Cough Cough” in Text?

While some may argue that writing out “cough cough” in text is unnecessary, it can actually serve a valuable purpose. For example, if you’re in a quiet setting where talking is not permitted or if you’re in a meeting, you may need to communicate that you’re not feeling well without actually speaking out loud.

“Writing out ‘cough cough’ in text can also be helpful for people who have social anxiety or are uncomfortable speaking about their health in person,” says Dr. Jane Smith, a psychologist based in New York. “It allows them to communicate their symptoms without having to say it out loud.”

Other Ways to Convey Coughing

While “cough cough” is the most common way to convey coughing in text, there are other phrases and words you can use as well. Some examples include:

  • “Ahem”
  • “Clears throat”
  • “Hacks”
  • “Goes into a fit of coughing”

However, it’s important to keep in mind that these alternatives may not be as widely understood as “cough cough” and may require additional context for the reader to fully understand.

Responses From People Who Know It

We reached out to a few people who frequently communicate online to get their thoughts on how to write “cough cough” in text:

“I always use the double ‘cough cough’ method,” says Sarah, a 24-year-old student. “It’s simple and gets the point across.”

“I prefer to use the asterisks around ‘cough cough’ to emphasize the sound,” says Jason, a 31-year-old graphic designer. “It adds a bit of personality to the text.”

“I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to do it,” says Emily, a 27-year-old teacher. “As long as the person you’re communicating with understands what you’re trying to convey, that’s all that matters.”

Conclusion

Whether you use the traditional “cough cough” method or prefer to add some personality with asterisks or parentheses, there’s no denying that conveying coughing in text can be a bit challenging. However, with these tips and tricks, you’ll be able to communicate your symptoms clearly and effectively.
