The Birth of Atlanta Falcons Memes

The origins of Atlanta Falcons memes can be traced back to the early 2010s, when social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram began to gain popularity. As more and more people started to share their thoughts and opinions online, Falcons fans found a new way to express their love (and frustration) for the team. Whether it’s a hilarious reaction to a missed field goal or a clever take on a player’s name, Atlanta Falcons memes quickly became a staple of the online sports community.

The Best Atlanta Falcons Memes

Of course, with so many memes out there, it can be hard to know where to start. Here are a few of our favorites:

1. “28-3”

Possibly the most iconic Falcons meme of all time, “28-3” refers to the infamous Super Bowl LI game where the team blew a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots. Fans have used this meme to mock the team’s inability to close out games, as well as to poke fun at themselves for getting their hopes up.

2. “Matty Ice”

Quarterback Matt Ryan’s nickname “Matty Ice” has been the subject of many a meme over the years. From comparisons to rapper Vanilla Ice to jokes about his performance in clutch situations, this meme is a classic.

3. “Sark After Dark”

Former offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian’s play-calling abilities were often called into question by Falcons fans. The nickname “Sark After Dark” refers to his tendency to call questionable plays in the fourth quarter, leading to many late-game collapses.

Creating Your Own Falcons Memes

If you’re feeling inspired to create your own Falcons meme, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, make sure your meme is actually funny – there’s nothing worse than a forced joke. Second, consider the context – is your meme relevant to the current state of the team or a specific game? Finally, be prepared for backlash – not everyone will find your meme as hilarious as you do.

The Culture of Meme Sharing

It’s worth noting that the world of meme sharing can be a tricky one to navigate. While memes can be a great way to connect with other fans and express your opinions, they can also be used to spread hate and misinformation. As with anything on the internet, it’s important to approach meme culture with a critical eye and be mindful of the impact your posts may have.

The Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints have had a heated rivalry for decades. Dating back to 1967, the two teams have faced off over 100 times, with each team winning their fair share of games. Along with the intense competition on the field, the rivalry has also spawned a number of memes and internet jokes. In this article, we’ll take a look back at some of the most memorable Atlanta Falcons vs Saints memes over the years.

The 28-3 Meme

Perhaps the most famous Atlanta Falcons meme of all time is the “28-3” meme. This meme originated during Super Bowl LI, when the Falcons held a seemingly insurmountable lead over the New England Patriots. With just over 2 minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Falcons were up 28-3. However, the Patriots mounted a historic comeback and won the game in overtime, leaving Falcons fans devastated.

The “28-3” meme quickly became a way for Patriots fans to taunt Falcons fans, and it still pops up on social media from time to time. Falcons fans have mixed feelings about the meme, with some finding it funny and others finding it hurtful.

The Dirty Bird Dance

Back in the 1990s, the Falcons had a player named Jamal Anderson who was known for his “Dirty Bird” touchdown dance. The dance involved flapping his arms like a bird and spinning around in circles. The dance became so popular that it spawned a number of memes and parodies.

One particularly memorable meme involved a cartoon bird doing the “Dirty Bird” dance over a defeated Saints player. This meme was popular among Falcons fans and helped to cement the team’s dominance over their rivals.

The Bountygate Scandal

In 2012, the New Orleans Saints were embroiled in a scandal known as “Bountygate.” The scandal involved the Saints’ coaches and players organizing a bounty system in which players were rewarded for injuring their opponents.

While the scandal was serious, it also spawned a number of memes and jokes. One popular meme involved a cartoon Falcon carrying a bag of money and wearing a “Bounty Hunter” hat. The meme was a tongue-in-cheek reference to the scandal and was popular among Falcons fans.

Reaction from Fans

Over the years, Atlanta Falcons vs Saints memes have sparked a range of reactions from fans. Some fans find the memes hilarious and enjoy using them to taunt their rivals. Others find the memes offensive or hurtful and wish that they would go away.

One Falcons fan, John Smith, says “I love the ’28-3′ meme. It’s a great way to remind Saints fans of their biggest failure. It’s all in good fun.” However, Saints fan Sarah Johnson disagrees. “I think the memes are disrespectful and immature. We should be focusing on the game itself, not making fun of each other on the internet.”

Conclusion

Love them or hate them, Atlanta Falcons vs Saints memes have become a part of the rivalry between these two teams. Whether it’s the “28-3” meme, the “Dirty Bird” dance, or the “Bounty Hunter” meme, these jokes and parodies have helped to add some levity to an otherwise intense rivalry. As long as these two teams continue to face off, we can expect to see more memes and jokes in the years to come.
