The meme features the beloved characters from the Animaniacs TV show, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot, dancing to the tune of Childish Gambino’s hit song “This Is America.”
The meme originated on TikTok in 2022 when a user named @animaniacsfan uploaded a video of the characters dancing to the song. The video quickly went viral, and soon after, other users started creating their own versions of the meme. The popularity of the meme has only grown since then, with people across social media platforms sharing their own versions and reactions to it.
Why Has This Meme Become So Popular?
There are several reasons why the Animaniacs This Is America meme has become so popular. First, the meme combines two popular cultural touchstones: the Animaniacs TV show and Childish Gambino’s hit song. This creates a sense of familiarity and nostalgia for many people, making it more likely that they will engage with the meme.
Second, the meme is highly shareable and easy to recreate. Anyone can film themselves or their favorite characters dancing to the song and share it on social media. This has led to a proliferation of different versions of the meme, each with its own unique twist or take.
Finally, the meme has also become popular because of the social commentary it provides. The original “This Is America” song and music video by Childish Gambino tackled issues like police brutality, racism, and gun violence. The Animaniacs This Is America meme takes this social commentary and applies it to the world of cartoons, creating a humorous but thought-provoking juxtaposition.
