In recent years, a new trend has emerged in the world of memes: “memes de rosca de reyes con mujeres,” or memes featuring women and Rosca de Reyes, a traditional Mexican pastry typically consumed during the Christmas season. While these memes may seem harmless at first glance, they have sparked controversy and debate among internet users in Mexico and beyond.

What are “Memes de Rosca de Reyes con Mujeres”?
For those unfamiliar with the tradition, Rosca de Reyes is a sweet bread typically eaten on January 6th, the day of the Epiphany in Mexico and other Latin American countries. The pastry is usually adorned with candied fruit and a small figurine of baby Jesus, and is meant to symbolize the three wise men’s journey to find the baby Jesus.
However, in recent years, Rosca de Reyes has become the subject of a new trend in the world of memes. These memes typically feature images of women alongside the pastry, with captions that range from innocent to sexually suggestive.
Some examples of these memes include images of women holding or interacting with Rosca de Reyes, with captions such as “When she wants a piece of your Rosca” or “I’d rather have her than the baby Jesus in my Rosca.” Other memes feature images of women’s bodies photoshopped onto the pastry, with captions that are often more explicit.
The Controversy Surrounding “Memes de Rosca de Reyes con Mujeres”
While these memes may seem harmless or even humorous to some, they have sparked controversy and backlash from many internet users, particularly in Mexico. Some argue that these memes perpetuate harmful stereotypes about women and contribute to the objectification and sexualization of their bodies.
Additionally, many have criticized the sexual nature of these memes, arguing that they are inappropriate and disrespectful to the religious significance of Rosca de Reyes. Some have even called for a boycott of the trend and for social media platforms to remove these memes from their sites.
Responses from People Who Know It
One Twitter user, @LaTiaFefa, tweeted: “As a Mexican woman, I find these memes extremely offensive and disrespectful. Rosca de Reyes is a sacred tradition, and these memes sexualize and objectify women’s bodies. It’s time to put an end to this trend.”
On the other hand, some internet users have defended the trend, arguing that it is simply a form of harmless humor and not meant to be taken seriously. Others have pointed out that there are many other memes that are equally or more offensive, and that singling out “memes de rosca de reyes con mujeres” is unfair.
Regardless of one’s opinion on the matter, it is clear that “memes de rosca de reyes con mujeres” have become a controversial and divisive topic in the world of internet culture. Whether they will continue to be a presence on social media or fade away remains to be seen.
