In 2021, an Amazon Prime Video original series called “Invincible” premiered and quickly became a hit among superhero fans. One of the standout characters from the show is Omni Man, a powerful and respected hero who turns out to be a villain. However, it wasn’t just his character arc that caught the internet’s attention – it was also the song that played during Omni Man’s fight scenes.

The Birth of the Meme
The song in question is “We All Try” by Frank Ocean, a soulful and emotional track that seems at odds with the brutal violence happening on-screen. However, the juxtaposition of the two created a meme that quickly spread across social media.
People began editing the scene to fit different songs, creating hilarious and unexpected combinations. Some popular choices include “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees, “All Star” by Smash Mouth, and “Cotton Eye Joe” by Rednex.
The Impact of the Meme
The Omni Man meme quickly went viral, with thousands of posts across Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram. It became a way for fans to express their love for the character while also poking fun at the show’s dramatic moments.
Many people also discovered Frank Ocean’s music for the first time through the meme, leading to a surge in streams and downloads for “We All Try.”
The Response from Frank Ocean Fans
While the Omni Man meme was amusing to many, some fans of Frank Ocean were less than pleased with the song being used in such a way. They argued that the meme reduced the emotional impact of the track, turning it into a punchline instead of a serious piece of music.
Others defended the meme, saying that it was a harmless joke and that it introduced new fans to Frank Ocean’s music. Ultimately, the debate over the Omni Man meme highlights the tension between popular culture and artistic integrity.
The Legacy of the Meme
As with any meme, the Omni Man trend eventually died down. However, it left a lasting impact on the internet and on popular culture.
For one thing, it proved that even serious and emotional songs can be turned into comedic gold with the right editing. It also showcased the power of social media to create viral trends and unite people around a shared joke.
The Future of the Omni Man Meme
While the Omni Man meme may have faded from the public eye, it’s possible that it could make a comeback in the future. If “Invincible” returns for a second season, fans may once again take to social media to create new versions of the meme.
Regardless of whether or not the meme returns, it will always be remembered as a quirky and unexpected moment in internet history. Who knew that a soulful Frank Ocean track could be so funny when paired with a violent superhero fight scene?
The Lessons of the Omni Man Meme
So, what can we learn from the rise and fall of the Omni Man meme? Here are a few takeaways:
1. Humor is subjective.
While the Omni Man meme was hilarious to many, it wasn’t to everyone. That’s okay – not everyone has to find the same things funny. It’s important to remember that humor is subjective and that what one person finds amusing, another may not.
2. Memes come and go.
Just like any trend, memes have a lifespan. They may be incredibly popular for a brief time, but eventually, they’ll fade away. It’s important to enjoy them while they last, but also to recognize that they won’t last forever.
3. Pop culture is a powerful force.
The Omni Man meme was successful because it tapped into a popular piece of entertainment. It’s a reminder of how influential pop culture can be and how it can bring people together around a shared interest.
4. Creativity knows no bounds.
The Omni Man meme was a testament to the creativity and ingenuity of internet users. It showed that with a little bit of editing and imagination, something entirely new and unexpected can be created.
5. Frank Ocean is still a musical genius.
Even if the Omni Man meme reduced “We All Try” to a punchline for a brief moment, it doesn’t diminish the fact that it’s a powerful and emotional track. Frank Ocean remains one of the most talented musicians of our time, and his music deserves to be appreciated on its own terms.
Overall, the Omni Man meme was a fun and lighthearted moment in the often-serious world of superhero media. It brought joy to many and reminded us of the power of social media to create shared experiences. Who knows – maybe we’ll see a resurgence of the meme in the future. Until then, we’ll always have the memories (and the edited videos).
