Back in 2020, the internet was taken by storm with a new meme that featured a person sweating profusely. It quickly became a sensation and was shared across social media platforms. However, as time went by, the meme lost its grip on the internet and slowly faded away. In this article, we will take a look at the rise and fall of the profuse sweating meme.

The Origin of the Meme
The profuse sweating meme originated from a scene in the anime series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The scene features a character named Robert E.O. Speedwagon sweating heavily after witnessing a gruesome fight. The image was then taken and used to create a meme that represented the feeling of being in an uncomfortable or awkward situation.
The meme quickly spread across the internet and became popular on various social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit. Memes featuring the profuse sweating character were shared by millions of people worldwide.
The Height of the Meme
At its peak, the profuse sweating meme was seen as one of the most relatable memes of its time. People could easily relate to the feeling of being in an uncomfortable or awkward situation, which made the meme even more popular. It was used on various occasions, such as when someone was caught in a lie, when someone made a mistake, or when someone was in a difficult situation.
The meme also gained attention from popular brands and celebrities. Companies like Wendy’s and Netflix used the meme to engage with their audience on social media, and celebrities such as Chrissy Teigen and Ryan Reynolds also shared the meme with their followers.
The Decline of the Meme
As with all memes, the profuse sweating meme eventually lost its appeal. People started to get tired of seeing the same image repeatedly, and it became less relatable as time went by. The meme slowly faded away, and newer memes took its place.
Some people believe that the decline of the meme was due to overuse. The image was used in various contexts, and people started to use it for situations that didn’t fit its original purpose. This caused the meme to become less funny and less relatable.
Responses from People Who Know It
Some people who were part of the meme’s rise and fall shared their thoughts on its popularity. Twitter user @johngreen tweeted, “I miss the profuse sweating meme. It was so relatable, and I used it all the time.” Another Twitter user, @memegirl101, shared a similar sentiment, “The profuse sweating meme was my favorite. I used it for everything, and now it’s gone.”
However, not everyone was a fan of the meme. Reddit user u/meme_hater123 shared their thoughts, “I never understood the appeal of the profuse sweating meme. It wasn’t funny, and it was overused.”
In Conclusion
The profuse sweating meme was one of the most popular memes of its time. It represented the feeling of being in an uncomfortable or awkward situation, which made it relatable to many people. However, as with all memes, its popularity eventually declined, and it slowly faded away. Although it may no longer be relevant, the profuse sweating meme will always be remembered as a classic internet meme.
