The Origins of “Hi, I’m Daisy”
The first appearance of the “Hi, I’m Daisy” meme can be traced back to the 2003 video game Mario Kart: Double Dash!! for the Nintendo GameCube. In the game, Daisy was one of several playable characters, and her introductory catchphrase quickly caught on with players. The phrase was relatively simple and unremarkable – just a friendly greeting – but it soon took on a life of its own online.
The Internet Embraces Daisy
As with many memes, it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly how the “Hi, I’m Daisy” phenomenon spread. However, it’s likely that early remixes and parodies of the phrase helped to popularize it. One of the most famous examples is a video uploaded to Newgrounds in 2004, which features Daisy’s voice clip being looped over a catchy beat. The video quickly went viral, and soon countless other remixes and parodies were being created.
The Peak of “Hi, I’m Daisy” Popularity
By the mid-2000s, the “Hi, I’m Daisy” meme had become ubiquitous online. It was featured in countless YouTube videos, remixes, and even fan art. The phrase had transcended its origins in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and had become a meme in its own right. However, like all memes, its popularity was fleeting.
What Happened to “Hi, I’m Daisy”?
By the late 2000s, the “Hi, I’m Daisy” meme had largely faded from the public consciousness. While there were still occasional remixes and references to the meme, it was no longer a dominant force online. So what caused the decline of this once-popular meme?
One theory is that the meme simply ran its course. Like any internet trend, the “Hi, I’m Daisy” meme was bound to eventually lose its appeal. Another theory is that the rise of newer, more visually-oriented memes (such as image macros and reaction gifs) eclipsed the more text-based “Hi, I’m Daisy” meme.

While the “Hi, I’m Daisy” meme may no longer be at the height of its popularity, it still holds a special place in the hearts of many internet users.
