The Hound was first introduced in the show’s first season as the bodyguard of Joffrey Baratheon, the young and sadistic king. He quickly became known for his brutal fighting skills and his scarred face, which he received as a child at the hands of his older brother, Gregor Clegane (aka the Mountain). As the show progressed, the Hound’s character evolved. He became more sympathetic as we learned about his traumatic past and his complicated relationship with his brother. He eventually left King’s Landing and joined up with Arya Stark, with whom he developed a unique and unlikely bond. He also had a long-awaited showdown with his brother, which resulted in both of their deaths.
