It’s hard to believe that it’s been over a decade since Taylor Swift released her hit single, “Blank Space.” The infectious tune, which topped the charts around the world, was accompanied by an equally memorable music video that took the internet by storm. But what really made “Blank Space” a cultural phenomenon were the countless memes that it inspired.

The Birth of the Taylor Swift “Blank Space” Meme

The first “Blank Space” meme surfaced on Tumblr in early 2015, shortly after the release of the music video. It featured a screenshot of Taylor Swift holding a knife and the caption, “Cause darling I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream.” The meme quickly went viral and spawned countless variations, featuring everything from cats and dogs to politicians and fictional characters.

One of the most popular iterations of the “Blank Space” meme was the “Taylor Swift is a serial killer” meme. This meme featured a series of images of Taylor Swift holding a knife, with captions that joked about her alleged murderous tendencies. While some fans found this meme amusing, others were quick to defend Taylor and point out the sexist undertones of the joke.

The Impact of the Taylor Swift “Blank Space” Meme

While some may dismiss the “Blank Space” meme as just another internet fad, its impact on Taylor Swift’s career and pop culture as a whole cannot be denied. The meme helped to solidify Taylor’s status as a cultural icon and showcased her ability to connect with fans in a new and unexpected way.

But the “Blank Space” meme also had a darker side. Some fans and critics argued that the meme was an example of the misogynistic treatment of female pop stars in the media. They pointed out that the meme perpetuated harmful stereotypes about women, portraying Taylor as a crazed, love-obsessed stalker.
