wicked

It’s been almost a decade since the wicked witch memes took over the internet, but the laughter and amusement they brought still linger in the minds of many. These memes, featuring the iconic character from The Wizard of Oz, were everywhere in 2023. From social media to pop culture references, the wicked witch memes were a hit that no one saw coming. In this article, we’ll take a look back at the wicked witch memes and explore why they became so popular.

The Origins of the Wicked Witch Memes

The wicked witch memes started gaining traction in early 2023, shortly after a video showing a cosplayer dressed as the wicked witch went viral. The video showed the cosplayer, who had put a lot of effort into her costume, slipping and falling while trying to walk down a flight of stairs. It was a hilarious moment, and the internet quickly turned it into a meme.

Soon after, people started creating their own wicked witch memes, using stills from the original Wizard of Oz movie or creating their own content. The memes ranged from clever wordplay to photoshopped images of the wicked witch doing ridiculous things. Some were innocent and funny, while others were more risqué and controversial.

The Appeal of the Wicked Witch Memes

So why did the wicked witch memes become so popular? One reason is the character herself. The wicked witch is an iconic figure in pop culture, and her green skin, pointy hat, and broomstick make her instantly recognizable. People also love to poke fun at villains, and the wicked witch is the perfect target for that.

Another reason for the memes’ appeal is their versatility. The wicked witch can be used in a variety of contexts, from political satire to relatable everyday situations. The memes were relatable to many people, and they provided a way to laugh at life’s challenges.

The Impact of the Wicked Witch Memes

The wicked witch memes had a significant impact on internet culture in 2023. They were shared and reposted millions of times, and they spawned countless spin-off memes and parodies. The memes also helped to bring the Wizard of Oz back into the public eye, introducing a new generation to the classic film.

However, the wicked witch memes were not without controversy. Some people felt that the memes were disrespectful to the original character and the actress who played her, Margaret Hamilton. Others felt that the memes were overused and that the trend had run its course.
