In 2017, Theresa May became a viral sensation after videos of her awkward dance moves went viral on social media. Fast forward to 2023, and the former Prime Minister is once again making headlines for her dancing – this time in the form of memes.
The Rise of Theresa May Dancing Memes
It all started with a fan account on Twitter that posted a video of Theresa May dancing to a popular song. The video quickly went viral, and soon people were creating their own memes featuring the former Prime Minister busting a move.
From Theresa May dancing in a club to her doing the floss, the memes were hilarious and quickly spread across social media. People couldn’t get enough of the former Prime Minister’s attempts at dancing.
The Reaction from the Public
While some people found the memes hilarious, others felt that they were disrespectful to the former Prime Minister. Some argued that the memes were making light of the serious issues that Theresa May faced during her time in office.
However, many people defended the memes, arguing that they were harmless fun and that Theresa May herself had a good sense of humor about them.
Comments from Those in the Know
When asked about the memes, former Prime Minister Theresa May had this to say:
“I think it’s important to be able to laugh at ourselves sometimes. I may not be the best dancer, but I’m glad that people are finding some joy in my attempts.”
Other politicians also weighed in on the phenomenon. Labour leader Keir Starmer tweeted that he thought the memes were “hilarious”, while Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg said that he was “delighted” that Theresa May was able to bring some joy to people’s lives.
The Impact of Theresa May Dancing Memes
While the memes may have started as a bit of fun, they soon became a cultural phenomenon. People began creating merchandise featuring Theresa May’s dancing, and even nightclubs started playing songs that were popularized by the memes.
The memes also brought attention to the issue of ageism in politics. Many people argued that the memes were a form of ageism, and that they would not have been as popular if Theresa May was a younger politician.
Final Thoughts
Love them or hate them, there’s no denying that Theresa May dancing memes were one of the biggest viral sensations of 2023. While some people may have found them disrespectful, many others found them to be harmless fun that brought a bit of joy to their lives.
