In 2022, a meme took the internet by storm. It featured a photo of a tennis court with the caption “no tennis balls allowed” and a group of confused-looking tennis players standing around. The meme quickly spread across social media platforms, with people using it to express their frustration with a variety of situations.

At first, the “no tennis balls” meme was seen as harmless fun. People enjoyed sharing it with their friends and using it to make light of everyday annoyances. However, as with many internet memes, things quickly took a turn.

The Dark Side of the Meme

As the “no tennis balls” meme gained popularity, some people began using it to spread hate and discrimination. They would include captions like “no liberals allowed” or “no immigrants allowed,” using the meme as a way to express their bigoted beliefs. This caused a backlash against the meme, with many people calling for it to be banned.

Despite the negative attention, the “no tennis balls” meme continued to be shared online. Some people defended it as harmless fun, while others argued that it was important to call out the bigotry that had been associated with it.

The Meme Goes Mainstream

In early 2023, the “no tennis balls” meme made headlines when it was featured on a popular late-night talk show. The host used the meme to make a joke about current events, and it quickly went viral. This led to even more people sharing the meme, both as a way to express their frustrations and as a way to be part of the trend.

The mainstream attention also led to more people speaking out against the meme. Some argued that it was still being used to spread hate, while others pointed out that it had lost its original meaning and was now just a tired internet joke.

The End of the Meme

By mid-2023, the “no tennis balls” meme had lost much of its popularity. People had moved on to new trends and jokes, and the meme was no longer being shared as frequently. However, it did leave behind a lasting impact.

For many people, the “no tennis balls” meme was a reminder of the power of social media. It showed how quickly something could go viral, and how easily it could be manipulated and used for harm. It also highlighted the importance of speaking out against hate and discrimination, especially in the online world.
