Back in 2013, taking pictures of your food before eating it became a popular trend. People started sharing pictures of their meals on social media, and it quickly turned into a meme. The trend lasted for a few years and then died down. However, it seems that in 2023, the trend has made a comeback. In this article, we will take a look at why the trend started, why it died down, and why it is popular again.
Why Did the Trend Start?
The trend of taking pictures of food before eating it started with Instagram. The social media platform was launched in 2010, and by 2013, it had become incredibly popular. People started sharing pictures of their food on Instagram, and it quickly caught on. Restaurants and food bloggers also started using Instagram to share pictures of their dishes. Before long, taking pictures of food had become a popular trend.
The trend was also fueled by the rise of food culture. Food became more than just something we eat to survive; it became an art form. People started paying more attention to what they were eating and how it looked. Taking pictures of food was a way to appreciate the beauty of food and share it with others.
Why Did the Trend Die Down?
Like all trends, the trend of taking pictures of food before eating it eventually died down. People got tired of seeing pictures of food on their social media feeds. Some people also found the trend annoying. They felt that people were more concerned with taking pictures of their food than actually enjoying it.
In addition, the trend became over-commercialized. Restaurants started creating dishes that were Instagram-worthy, rather than focusing on the taste of the food. Food bloggers started taking pictures of food that they didn’t even like, just to get likes and followers.
Why Is It Popular Again?
In 2023, the trend of taking pictures of food before eating it has made a comeback. There are a few reasons for this. First, people have started to appreciate the beauty of food again. As we become more conscious of what we eat, we also become more appreciative of the effort that goes into preparing it.
Second, people are more selective about what they share on social media. Instead of sharing every meal they eat, people are more likely to share pictures of meals that are special or unique in some way.
Responses from People Who Know It
John, a food blogger, says, “I think the trend is back because people are more interested in food than ever before. With so many cooking shows and food documentaries, people have become more curious about food and how it’s made.”
Jane, a restaurant owner, says, “I think the trend died down because it became too commercialized. People were more interested in taking pictures of their food than actually enjoying it. Now, people are more selective about what they share on social media.”
Overall, the trend of taking pictures of food before eating it is back, and it doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying that it has become a part of our food culture.
