It’s been four years since England’s goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, made his mark in the 2018 World Cup. But it seems like the internet still can’t get enough of him. From his impressive saves to his quirky antics on the field, Pickford has become a meme sensation. Let’s take a closer look at why Jordan Pickford memes have taken over the internet.

The Origin of Jordan Pickford Memes

It all started with Pickford’s performance in the 2018 World Cup. The goalkeeper made some incredible saves that helped England reach the semi-finals. But it was his height that caught people’s attention. At 6’1″, he’s not the tallest goalkeeper out there, but he made up for it with his quick reflexes and agility.

Soon, people started to notice Pickford’s unique style of play. He’s not afraid to take risks and often jumps and dives to make saves. He’s also known for his animated celebrations, often fist-pumping and shouting after a successful save.

It wasn’t long before the internet took notice. Fans started creating memes of Pickford, using his facial expressions and celebrations to make jokes and poke fun at his height. The memes quickly went viral and Pickford became a household name.

The Best Jordan Pickford Memes

There are countless Jordan Pickford memes out there, but some have stood out as fan favorites. One popular meme features Pickford’s face edited onto a giraffe’s body, poking fun at his height. Another meme shows Pickford leaping into the air, with the caption “When you’re 6’1″ but you still gotta jump.”

But it’s not just Pickford’s height that’s the subject of memes. Fans have also created memes of his facial expressions, like the one where he looks like he’s about to sneeze, or the one where he’s staring intensely at the ball.

The Response from Fans and Critics

While most fans have embraced the Jordan Pickford memes and find them hilarious, some have criticized them for being disrespectful. Some argue that the memes make fun of Pickford’s height and take away from his talent as a goalkeeper.

However, Pickford himself seems to have a good sense of humor about the memes. In an interview with The Guardian, he said, “If people want to have a laugh, let them have a laugh. It’s all good fun.”

Other footballers have also weighed in on the Jordan Pickford meme phenomenon. Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold said in an interview with Sky Sports, “It’s good to see people enjoying football and having a bit of banter.”
