pensando

Over the past few years, the internet has been inundated with memes. From “distracted boyfriend” to “y tho,” memes have become a ubiquitous part of online culture. One such meme that has gained popularity in recent times is the “negro pensando” or “thinking black guy” meme.

The “negro pensando” meme is a picture of a young black man staring off into the distance with a contemplative look on his face. The meme is typically used to convey a sense of deep thought or introspection, often accompanied by a caption that adds humor or irony to the image.

The Birth of the Negro Pensando Meme

The “negro pensando” meme was born in 2013 when a Facebook user named Odell Beckham Jr. shared a photo of himself with the caption “When you’re thinking about life and how crazy it is.” The image quickly went viral, and soon other users began using the photo to create their own memes.

Over time, the meme evolved and took on a life of its own. The original photo was replaced with other images of black men in contemplative poses, and the captions became more diverse and creative.

Why the Negro Pensando Meme is Popular

The “negro pensando” meme is popular for several reasons. For one, it taps into the current cultural moment of increased visibility and representation for black people. The image of a black man deep in thought challenges the stereotype of black men as hyper-masculine or lacking in intellectual depth.

Additionally, the meme is often used to convey a sense of humor or irony. The juxtaposition of the serious expression on the black man’s face with a humorous or ironic caption creates a tension that is both amusing and thought-provoking.
