Who is Kenny McCormick?

For the uninitiated, Kenny McCormick is a character from the animated show South Park. He is one of the show’s primary characters, and is known for his distinctive orange parka hood that obscures his face and muffles his voice. Kenny is also known for his frequent and often gruesome deaths, which have become a running gag on the show.

Despite being a major character on the show, Kenny is often overshadowed by his more prominent co-stars, such as Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, and Eric Cartman. However, his unique character traits and tragicomic fate have made him a fan favorite.

The Origins of Kenny McCormick Memes

The first South Park episode featuring Kenny aired in 1997, but it wasn’t until the early 2000s that his character began to inspire memes and internet jokes. One of the earliest and most popular Kenny memes was the phrase “Oh my god, they killed Kenny!”, which was often used to express mock outrage or shock.

Another popular Kenny meme was the “Kenny in Heaven” meme, which featured various humorous depictions of Kenny in the afterlife. This meme often played off of Kenny’s frequent deaths on the show, and presented them as a kind of joke or cosmic punchline.

The Enduring Popularity of Kenny McCormick Memes

Despite South Park having been on the air for over three decades, Kenny McCormick memes continue to be popular and widely shared. This is due in part to the character’s unique combination of humor, tragedy, and absurdity.

Many fans of the show have compared Kenny to the classic archetype of the “tragic clown”, a character who uses humor to mask their own inner pain and sorrow. Kenny’s frequent deaths and repeated resurrections have also made him a kind of cosmic joke, which adds to his appeal as a character.
