It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost three years since the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield, but one thing that has remained constant is the popularity of the Gigantamax Meowth. In this article, we’ll explore the history of the Gigantamax Meowth, the origins of its memes, and why it continues to be a fan favorite in 2023.

The History of Gigantamax Meowth

The Gigantamax phenomenon was first introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield as a way to enhance the size and power of certain Pokémon during battles. Meowth was one of the first Pokémon to receive the Gigantamax treatment, and its new form quickly became a fan favorite. But Meowth’s popularity didn’t stop there. The character was also featured prominently in the Pokémon anime, where it played a key role in several story arcs. This exposure only helped to cement Meowth’s status as a fan favorite, and it wasn’t long before the memes started to appear.

Some say that it all started with a single image of Gigantamax Meowth’s face photoshopped onto a person’s body, while others point to a popular Twitter account that specializes in Pokémon memes as the source of the trend.
