It’s been a year since the memes of January 2022 took the internet by storm. From Bernie Sanders at the inauguration to the GameStop stock frenzy, these memes captured the zeitgeist of the time. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and revisit some of the funniest moments that made us laugh, cry, and roll our eyes.

Bernie Sanders’ Memes

It all started with Bernie Sanders’ iconic mittens and practical jacket at the inauguration of President Joe Biden. The meme quickly went viral and people started photoshopping the senator into all kinds of situations. From sitting on the Iron Throne in Game of Thrones to joining the cast of Friends, Bernie was everywhere.

“I loved the Bernie memes because they were so creative and funny. It was a great way to start the year on a positive note,” said Emily, a 26-year-old from Los Angeles.

GameStop Stock Frenzy

Another meme that took the internet by storm was the GameStop stock frenzy. In January 2022, a group of amateur investors on Reddit decided to buy GameStop stock en masse, causing the price to skyrocket. This led to a battle between the amateur investors and Wall Street hedge funds, with the former coming out on top.

“The GameStop meme was hilarious because it showed that ordinary people could take on the big guys and win. It was a David and Goliath story for the internet age,” said John, a 35-year-old from New York.

“I’m Not a Cat”

One of the funniest moments of January 2022 was the “I’m not a cat” incident. During a virtual court hearing, a lawyer accidentally turned on a cat filter and was unable to turn it off. The hilarious exchange between the judge and the lawyer went viral and became a meme.

“The ‘I’m not a cat’ meme was the highlight of my month. It was so unexpected and hilarious. I’ve watched that video so many times,” said Sarah, a 29-year-old from Chicago.

“Sea Shanty TikTok”

Finally, we can’t talk about memes of January 2022 without mentioning “Sea Shanty TikTok”. This trend involved people on TikTok singing traditional sea shanties, often in harmony with others. The trend became so popular that it even led to a record deal for one of the creators.

“I loved the Sea Shanty TikTok trend because it brought people together and created a sense of community. It was a nice break from all the negativity in the world,” said Mike, a 31-year-old from London.

In Conclusion

The memes of January 2022 were a bright spot in an otherwise difficult time. They brought joy, laughter, and a sense of togetherness to people all over the world. We can only hope that the memes of 2023 will be just as funny and memorable.
