The truth will set you free Overwatch_Memes from www.reddit.com

The year 2022 has been a rollercoaster ride for Overwatch players. From new heroes and maps to balance changes and esports tournaments, there was no shortage of excitement. But amidst all this, one thing remained constant – the hilarious memes that kept us laughing and entertained throughout the year. In this blog post, we take a look back at some of the most popular Overwatch memes of 2022.

The “Echo is Broken” Meme

One of the earliest memes of the year was the “Echo is Broken” meme. It started when players noticed that the new hero Echo had an extremely high win rate in competitive play. Some players even claimed that Echo was overpowered and needed to be nerfed. This led to a flood of memes on social media, with players posting images and videos of Echo dominating matches and wreaking havoc on the enemy team. Response from a player: “I remember when everyone was freaking out about Echo being broken. It was hilarious to see all the memes and jokes people were making about her. But honestly, I think she was just a really strong hero that required a lot of skill to play effectively.”

The “Baptiste’s Immortality Field” Meme

Another popular meme of 2022 was the “Baptiste’s Immortality Field” meme. This meme started when players noticed that Baptiste’s ultimate ability, which creates a field that prevents allies from dying, was extremely powerful. In some cases, it was nearly impossible to kill the enemy team if they were standing inside the field. This led to a flurry of memes on social media, with players jokingly calling Baptiste’s ultimate the “immortality cheat code.” Response from a player: “I loved the Baptiste memes because they were so relatable. Everyone has had those moments where they’re about to get a kill, but then the enemy team pops the immortality field and ruins everything. It’s frustrating, but also kind of hilarious.”

The “Sigma’s Accretion” Meme

Sigma’s Accretion ability, which allows him to throw a giant rock at his enemies, was the subject of many memes in 2022. Players joked that Sigma was like a baseball pitcher, throwing rocks at the enemy team with pinpoint accuracy. Some players even created fan art of Sigma as a pitcher, complete with a baseball cap and a glove. Response from a player: “The Sigma memes were great because they showed how creative the Overwatch community can be. It’s amazing how people can take a simple ability like throwing a rock and turn it into something hilarious and memorable.”

The “Brigitte’s Shield Bash” Meme

Brigitte’s Shield Bash ability, which allows her to stun enemies with her shield, was the source of many memes in 2022. Players joked that Brigitte was overpowered and that the only way to counter her was to play a hero with a shield of their own. Some players even created videos of Brigitte bashing her way through the other heroes in the game. Response from a player: “The Brigitte memes were funny, but they also highlighted a real issue in the game. At the time, Brigitte was a very strong hero that could be difficult to counter. I think the memes helped to bring attention to this issue and ultimately led to some balance changes that made the game more fair.”

The “Overwatch 2 Delay” Meme

Finally, we have the “Overwatch 2 Delay” meme. This meme started when Blizzard announced that the release of Overwatch 2 would be delayed to 2023. Players were disappointed that they wouldn’t be able to play the new game as soon as they had hoped, but they also saw the humor in the situation. Memes were created about how long they would have to wait for the game, with some players joking that they would be retired by the time Overwatch 2 was released. Response from a player: “The Overwatch 2 delay was definitely a bummer, but the memes made it easier to deal with. It was funny to see all the different jokes and memes people were making about it. It made me feel like I wasn’t the only one who was disappointed.” In conclusion, the memes of 2022 were a great way to add some humor and lightheartedness to the Overwatch community. They helped to bring players together and create a sense of camaraderie, even in the midst of competitive play. As we look forward to the release of Overwatch 2 in 2023, we can only hope that the memes will continue to be as hilarious and entertaining as they were this year.
