ridley

In 2023, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is still one of the most popular fighting games with a passionate community. Among the many characters in the game, Ridley, the space dragon from the Metroid series, has become a fan favorite for many reasons. One of those reasons is the rise of Ridley memes that have taken over social media and online forums. In this article, we’ll explore the history of Ridley memes, their impact on the Smash community, and some of the best examples.

The Origins of Ridley Memes

Ridley was first introduced as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in 2018, and his inclusion was a long-awaited dream come true for many Metroid fans. However, some players were disappointed with his appearance, arguing that he was too big and should have been a boss character instead. This led to the creation of the first Ridley memes, poking fun at his size and how he barely fits on some of the game’s stages.

As time went on, more and more Ridley memes started popping up online. Some of them focused on his design, such as the fact that he has wings but can’t fly in the game. Others were more abstract, like the infamous “Ridley is Too Big” meme that took over the internet for a while. Regardless of their subject matter, Ridley memes were always popular with the Smash community, and they continued to spread like wildfire.

The Impact of Ridley Memes

While Ridley memes are certainly entertaining, they also have a deeper impact on the Smash community as a whole. For one thing, they help to keep the game fresh and exciting, even years after its release. They also give players a way to connect with each other and share their love for the game in a fun and lighthearted way.

Moreover, Ridley memes have helped to raise the profile of the character himself. Before his inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Ridley was a relatively obscure character in the Metroid series. However, thanks to the popularity of Ridley memes, more people have become interested in the character and his backstory. This has helped to bring new fans into the Metroid community and keep the series relevant in the gaming world.

The Best Ridley Memes

Of course, no discussion of Ridley memes would be complete without looking at some of the best examples. Here are just a few of our favorites:

“Ridley is Too Big”

This meme started it all, and it’s still one of the most popular. The idea is simple: Ridley is too big to be a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The meme usually features a picture of Ridley towering over other characters or stages in the game, with humorous captions like “how does he even fit?”

“Ridley Can’t Fly”

Another popular meme focuses on Ridley’s wings, or lack thereof. Despite having wings, Ridley is unable to fly in the game, which has led to some hilarious memes. One example features a picture of Ridley sitting on top of a plane, with the caption “I don’t always fly, but when I do, I ride on top of a plane.”

“Ridley’s Little Brother”

This meme plays off the fact that Ridley is often seen as a villain in the Metroid series. The idea is that Ridley has a little brother who is much smaller and less intimidating than he is. The meme usually features a picture of a cute or funny animal, with the caption “Ridley’s little brother.”
