overrated

Think about it: memes are everywhere. They flood our social media feeds, pop up in group chats, and even make their way into our everyday conversations. But, as with any trend, some memes are more overrated than others. In this article, we’ll explore the memes that have overstayed their welcome and whether or not they’re still worth sharing in 2023.

The Dab

The dab was once the go-to move for every celebrity and athlete, but its popularity has since dwindled. It originated in Atlanta and gained mainstream attention in 2015 when Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton started dabbing after scoring touchdowns. The dab quickly became a cultural phenomenon, with everyone from Hillary Clinton to the Pope joining in on the trend.

However, in 2023, the dab is no longer a relevant or cool meme. It’s become a cringe-worthy move that people only do ironically. No one wants to see their uncle dab at Thanksgiving dinner anymore.

The “Arthur” Fist

The “Arthur” fist meme gained popularity in 2016, when a screenshot from an episode of the children’s cartoon “Arthur” went viral. The image featured Arthur’s clenched fist, which became a symbol for frustration or anger.

While the meme had a short-lived moment of fame, it’s now considered overrated and unoriginal. People have moved on to newer, funnier memes that are actually worth sharing.

The “Cash Me Outside” Girl

In 2017, Danielle Bregoli, a 13-year-old girl from Florida, appeared on the Dr. Phil show and uttered the now-famous phrase, “Cash me outside, how ‘bout dah?” The clip went viral and turned Bregoli into an internet sensation.

However, in 2023, the “Cash Me Outside” girl is no longer relevant. Her fame was short-lived, and she’s since faded into obscurity. The meme is now just a cringe-worthy reminder of an internet trend that should have never happened.

“I can’t believe we ever thought the ‘Cash Me Outside’ girl was funny. It’s embarrassing.” – @memelord

The “What Are Those?” Meme

In 2015, a video surfaced of a man shouting “What are those?!” at a police officer’s shoes. The video quickly went viral and became a meme, with people using the phrase to mock others’ footwear.

But in 2023, the “What are those?” meme is no longer funny or relevant. It’s become a tired and overplayed joke that people should retire for good.

“The ‘What are those?’ meme was funny for a minute, but now it’s just annoying.” – @memexpert

The Spongebob Mocking Meme

The Spongebob mocking meme is a screenshot from the popular children’s show, featuring Spongebob Squarepants and his best friend, Patrick Star. The image is used to mock or belittle someone, with Spongebob and Patrick imitating the person’s behavior.

While the meme had its moment in the sun, it’s now considered overrated and unoriginal. People have moved on to newer, funnier memes that are actually worth sharing.

“The Spongebob mocking meme is so played out. It’s time to find something new.” – @memegod

Conclusion

In conclusion, while these memes were once popular and funny, they’ve all become overrated and unoriginal. It’s time to move on to newer, fresher memes that actually make us laugh. Let’s retire these tired jokes for good.
