Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock, also known as RPSLS, is a variant of the classic game of Rock Paper Scissors, made popular by the TV show “The Big Bang Theory.” RPSLS adds two new hand gestures to the original game, the lizard and the Spock, making it more challenging and entertaining.

How to Play RPSLS

The game is played between two players who each choose one of the five gestures: rock, paper, scissors, lizard, or Spock. The rules are simple:

• Rock crushes Scissors
• Scissors cuts Paper
• Paper covers Rock
• Rock crushes Lizard
• Lizard poisons Spock
• Spock smashes Scissors
• Scissors decapitates Lizard
• Lizard eats Paper
• Paper disproves Spock
• Spock vaporizes Rock

Why RPSLS Became a Meme

Shortly after “The Big Bang Theory” aired the episode where Sheldon introduced RPSLS to the gang, the game quickly became popular among the show’s fans. It wasn’t long before RPSLS started to appear on social media, and people started creating memes and jokes about it.

One of the reasons RPSLS became a meme is because it’s a fun and quirky game that’s easy to learn and play. It’s also a game that can be played by anyone, regardless of age or skill level.

The Impact of RPSLS on Pop Culture

RPSLS has had a significant impact on pop culture. Since its introduction on “The Big Bang Theory,” the game has been featured in other TV shows, movies, and even video games.

One of the most notable examples is the video game “Minecraft,” where RPSLS is one of the minigames that players can participate in. The game has also been used in various marketing campaigns and advertisements, showcasing its popularity and versatility.

The Response from People Who Know It

Many people who have played RPSLS have positive things to say about the game. They enjoy the added challenge that the new gestures bring and appreciate the humor and creativity behind the game’s design.

However, some people feel that RPSLS is too complicated and takes away from the simplicity of the original game. They argue that the rules are too difficult to remember and that the game’s popularity is simply due to its association with “The Big Bang Theory.”

The Future of RPSLS

As with any meme or trend, it’s hard to predict the future of RPSLS. However, given its popularity and widespread use, it’s safe to say that the game will continue to be a part of pop culture for years to come.

Whether you’re a fan of “The Big Bang Theory” or simply looking for a fun and challenging game to play, RPSLS is definitely worth a try. Who knows, you might even become a master of the game and start creating your own memes and jokes about it.
