It all started with a simple paparazzi photo of Jason Momoa running shirtless on a beach in Hawaii. Little did he know that this photo would become the inspiration for one of the most popular memes on the internet in 2023. The meme, which features Momoa running in slow motion with various captions, has taken the internet by storm and has become a cultural phenomenon. In this article, we will explore the origin of the meme, its impact on popular culture, and the response from people who know it.

Origin of the Meme

The photo of Momoa running on the beach was taken in 2019 while he was filming for his TV show “See.” The photo quickly went viral on social media, with fans swooning over Momoa’s chiseled physique and rugged good looks. However, it wasn’t until 2021 when the meme really took off.

The first known instance of the Jason Momoa meme running was when a Twitter user posted the photo with the caption “When I’m trying to catch the ice cream truck.” The tweet quickly gained traction, and soon, people were creating their own versions of the meme.

The Impact on Pop Culture

The Jason Momoa meme running has had a significant impact on pop culture, with many people using it as a way to express their emotions or add humor to their social media posts. The meme has been used in a variety of contexts, from political commentary to relationship jokes.

One of the most notable instances of the meme’s impact on pop culture was when Momoa himself appeared in a Super Bowl commercial for Rocket Mortgage. In the commercial, Momoa is shown in his home, taking off his muscles and hair to reveal a much skinnier version of himself. The commercial ends with Momoa running in slow motion on a beach, a nod to the meme that made him famous.

Response from People Who Know It

Many celebrities and public figures have weighed in on the Jason Momoa meme running. Some have praised the meme for its humor and creativity, while others have criticized it for objectifying Momoa.

Actress Gal Gadot, who starred alongside Momoa in “Justice League,” tweeted her support for the meme, saying, “This is amazing. Love my boy Jason.” Comedian Amy Schumer also joined in on the fun, posting her own version of the meme with the caption “When you finally get your period after being two weeks late.”

However, not everyone has been a fan of the meme. Actress Emily Ratajkowski tweeted her frustration with the meme, saying, “I love Jason Momoa as much as the next person, but can we please stop objectifying him? He’s a human being, not a piece of meat.”

Final Thoughts

The Jason Momoa meme running is a testament to the power of the internet and its ability to turn a simple photo into a cultural phenomenon. While it has its detractors, the meme has brought joy and laughter to millions of people around the world.
