Ed Hochuli may have retired from his role as an NFL referee in 2018, but his legacy lives on through the power of memes. For those who are not familiar with the man behind the memes, Ed Hochuli was one of the most recognizable officials in the NFL due to his muscular build and lengthy explanations of penalties. The Birth of Ed Hochuli Memes

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when the first Ed Hochuli meme was created, but it’s safe to say that it was sometime in the mid-2000s. People began creating their own Hochuli memes and sharing them on social media, and before long, he had become a full-blown internet sensation.
