The Birth of Danganronpa Memes
The first Danganronpa game was released in 2010, but it wasn’t until the release of the second game, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, that the series really took off. With its colorful cast of characters and mind-bending plot twists, it quickly became a fan favorite. And as with any fandom, the memes soon followed.
One of the earliest memes to emerge from the Danganronpa fandom was the “Hajime Hinata is a Reserve Course Student” meme. This meme pokes fun at a plot point in Danganronpa 2 where the protagonist is revealed to be a “reserve course” student, meaning he’s not a full-fledged member of the school’s elite class. Fans started making jokes about how Hajime was inferior to the other characters, and the meme quickly spread.
The Rise of Tumblr
While Danganronpa memes could be found on various social media platforms, it was Tumblr that really became the hub for fans. The platform’s emphasis on visual content and fandom culture made it the perfect place for fans to share their memes and connect with each other.
One of the most popular Danganronpa meme blogs on Tumblr is “danganronpa-confessions.” This blog allows fans to submit their own confessions about the series, which are then posted anonymously. Many of these confessions are humorous in nature, and often involve memes.
The Ultimate Danganronpa Meme: “Ishimaru Saying ‘Hell Yeah'”
While there are countless Danganronpa memes out there, one in particular has become the ultimate meme for fans. This meme involves a scene from Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc where the character Kiyotaka Ishimaru says “Hell yeah!” in a very enthusiastic manner. Fans have taken this moment and turned it into a meme that’s used in a variety of contexts.
One popular version of the meme involves photoshopping Ishimaru into various situations where he’s expressing his enthusiasm. For example, there are memes of Ishimaru saying “Hell yeah!” while holding a slice of pizza, or while riding a rollercoaster. Fans have also created videos and GIFs that feature the meme.
The Community’s Response
The Danganronpa fandom is known for being passionate and creative, and the memes are just one example of this. Fans have embraced the memes as a way to express their love for the series and connect with other fans. Many fans have also created their own memes and shared them with the community.
One fan, who goes by the username “danganronpaneko,” says, “I love the memes because they’re a way for fans to come together and share their love for the series. It’s also a way to express our feelings about the characters and the story in a fun and lighthearted way.”
