They were created by fans of the late comedian Chris Farley, who was known for his larger-than-life personality and physical comedy. The memes typically feature a photo of Farley in one of his iconic sketches from his time on Saturday Night Live, with a caption that makes a humorous comparison between Farley and then-candidate Donald Trump.
Some of the most popular Chris Farley Trump memes include images of Farley doing his famous “Van Down By The River” sketch alongside photos of Trump, with captions like “When you finally get Mexico to pay for the wall.” Other memes show Farley dressed up as his beloved character Matt Foley, the motivational speaker who famously lived in a van down by the river, with captions like “When you’re running for president but you still live in your mom’s basement.”
The Popularity of the Chris Farley Trump Memes
So why did the Chris Farley Trump memes become so popular? For one thing, they tapped into a shared sense of humor among many Americans who were feeling frustrated and disillusioned with the political process. Another reason for the popularity of the Chris Farley Trump memes is the enduring appeal of Chris Farley himself. The comedian was beloved by millions of fans for his over-the-top physical comedy and larger-than-life personality, and his untimely death in 1997 only added to his mystique. By pairing Farley’s image with Donald Trump, the memes created a kind of cultural shorthand that was instantly recognizable and highly shareable.
