The Chain-Snatching Incident
One of the most infamous moments in Aqib Talib’s career came during a game in 2017. Talib, who was playing for the Denver Broncos at the time, got into a scuffle with Oakland Raiders wide receiver Michael Crabtree. The two players had a history of bad blood, and tensions boiled over during the game.
During the scuffle, Talib ripped Crabtree’s gold chain off his neck, sparking a melee on the field. The incident earned Talib a two-game suspension and plenty of criticism from fans and analysts alike. But it also gave birth to one of the most enduring Aqib Talib memes.
The meme, which features Talib wearing a chain around his neck with the caption “I heard you were looking for this,” has been shared thousands of times on social media. It’s become a shorthand way of referencing the incident and poking fun at Talib’s role in it.
On-Field Antics
But the chain-snatching incident isn’t the only thing that memes have focused on when it comes to Aqib Talib. The cornerback was known for his fiery personality on the field, and he wasn’t afraid to mix it up with opponents.

The meme has been shared widely among NFL fans, who appreciate Talib’s confidence and swagger on the field. But it’s also drawn criticism from those who think the meme is insensitive to the opponent who’s being mocked.
