It’s been several years since the amazed meme face took over the internet, but its popularity only seems to be growing. This expression, which features a wide-eyed, open-mouthed facial expression, has become one of the most recognizable memes in online culture. From its origins to its staying power, this article will delve into the world of the amazed meme face.

The Origins of the Amazed Meme Face

The amazed meme face can be traced back to a 2012 photograph of former NBA player Nick Young. In the photo, Young is seen smiling with his eyes closed while teammate Jordan Hill speaks to him. The image was quickly turned into a meme, with the addition of text and the wide-eyed expression that we now associate with the meme.

As the meme gained popularity, variations of the image began to emerge, with different people and animals being substituted in for Nick Young. The meme also became associated with a particular catchphrase: “Surprised Pikachu.” This phrase became a shorthand for any situation in which someone was caught off guard or surprised.

The Evolution of the Amazed Meme Face

Over time, the amazed meme face has evolved and taken on new forms. In some versions, the eyes are even wider and the mouth is even more open, exaggerating the original expression. The meme has also been incorporated into other memes and online trends, such as the “distracted boyfriend” meme.

Despite these changes, the basic structure of the amazed meme face remains the same. The image is still used to convey surprise or shock, and it’s still one of the most recognizable memes on the internet.
