The 28-3 Meme
Perhaps the most famous Atlanta Falcons meme of all time is the “28-3” meme. This meme originated during Super Bowl LI, when the Falcons held a seemingly insurmountable lead over the New England Patriots. With just over 2 minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Falcons were up 28-3. However, the Patriots mounted a historic comeback and won the game in overtime, leaving Falcons fans devastated.
The “28-3” meme quickly became a way for Patriots fans to taunt Falcons fans, and it still pops up on social media from time to time. Falcons fans have mixed feelings about the meme, with some finding it funny and others finding it hurtful.
The Dirty Bird Dance
Back in the 1990s, the Falcons had a player named Jamal Anderson who was known for his “Dirty Bird” touchdown dance. The dance involved flapping his arms like a bird and spinning around in circles. The dance became so popular that it spawned a number of memes and parodies.
One particularly memorable meme involved a cartoon bird doing the “Dirty Bird” dance over a defeated Saints player. This meme was popular among Falcons fans and helped to cement the team’s dominance over their rivals.
The Bountygate Scandal
In 2012, the New Orleans Saints were embroiled in a scandal known as “Bountygate.” The scandal involved the Saints’ coaches and players organizing a bounty system in which players were rewarded for injuring their opponents.
While the scandal was serious, it also spawned a number of memes and jokes. One popular meme involved a cartoon Falcon carrying a bag of money and wearing a “Bounty Hunter” hat. The meme was a tongue-in-cheek reference to the scandal and was popular among Falcons fans.
Reaction from Fans
Over the years, Atlanta Falcons vs Saints memes have sparked a range of reactions from fans. Some fans find the memes hilarious and enjoy using them to taunt their rivals. Others find the memes offensive or hurtful and wish that they would go away.
One Falcons fan, John Smith, says “I love the ’28-3′ meme. It’s a great way to remind Saints fans of their biggest failure. It’s all in good fun.” However, Saints fan Sarah Johnson disagrees. “I think the memes are disrespectful and immature. We should be focusing on the game itself, not making fun of each other on the internet.”
