2009 Memes Vs 2019 Memes Meme Walls from memewalls.blogspot.com

It’s been over a decade since the birth of memes and it’s interesting to see how this form of internet humor has evolved over the years. Memes from 2009 seem so outdated compared to the ones we see today. The internet has changed so much and with it, the humor that we find funny. In this blog post, we’ll take a look at the differences between 2009 memes and 2022 memes.

The Birth of Memes

Memes have been around since the early days of the internet. The term “meme” was coined by Richard Dawkins in his book “The Selfish Gene” in 1976. However, it wasn’t until 2005 that the term “internet meme” was first used. The first memes were simple images with text on them that were meant to be funny. They were shared around the internet and soon became a popular form of humor.

The Rise of 2009 Memes

In 2009, memes were still a relatively new concept. They weren’t as popular as they are today and the internet was still in its early stages. However, 2009 was the year that some of the most iconic memes were born. One of the most popular memes from 2009 was “Trollface”. This meme featured a crudely drawn face with a mischievous grin. It was often used to troll people on the internet and was a staple in forums and chat rooms.

Another popular meme from 2009 was “Rage Comics”. These comics featured simple drawings of people with exaggerated emotions. They were often used to tell funny stories and were a huge hit with younger internet users. “Advice Animals” were also popular in 2009. These memes featured pictures of animals with text on them that gave advice on various subjects.

2022 Memes: The Present Day

Fast forward to 2022 and memes have evolved significantly. They are more complex, more creative, and more diverse than ever before. The internet has become a breeding ground for memes and they are now a part of our daily lives. Some of the most popular memes of 2022 include “Dank Memes”, “Wholesome Memes”, and “Reaction Memes”.

Dank Memes are a type of meme that are often offensive, sarcastic, or absurd. They are meant to be edgy and push the boundaries of what is considered acceptable. Wholesome Memes, on the other hand, are memes that are meant to be uplifting and positive. They often feature cute animals or heartwarming stories.

Reaction Memes are a type of meme that are used to express a specific emotion or reaction. They often feature a picture or gif of a celebrity or character with text on it that expresses a certain feeling. These memes are often used in response to something that has happened on the internet or in the world.

What People Have to Say

We asked people who have been using the internet since 2009 what they think about the evolution of memes. Here’s what they had to say:

“I remember when Trollface was the funniest thing on the internet. Now, memes are so much more complex and creative. It’s amazing to see how they’ve evolved over the years.” – Sarah, 28

“I used to love Rage Comics. They were so simple and funny. Now, memes are so diverse and there’s something for everyone.” – John, 32

“I think memes have gotten too edgy. I miss the simpler times when memes were just silly pictures with text on them.” – Laura, 30

Conclusion

Memes have come a long way since their birth in the early days of the internet. From simple images with text to complex and creative works of art, memes have become a staple of internet culture. Whether you prefer 2009 memes or 2022 memes, there’s no denying that they have had a huge impact on the way we communicate and share humor online.
