In 2023, it’s hard to imagine a time when memes weren’t a ubiquitous part of internet culture. But back in the early 2010s, memes were still a relatively new concept, and it was rare for a meme to achieve the kind of widespread popularity that we see today. One of the earliest and most enduring memes of that era was the Game Grumps’ Wind Waker meme.

What is the Game Grumps’ Wind Waker Meme?

The Game Grumps are a popular YouTube channel that specializes in Let’s Play-style videos, where the hosts play through video games and offer commentary and jokes along the way. In 2013, they played through The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, a beloved entry in the Zelda series. During one particularly frustrating section of the game, one of the hosts, Arin Hanson, repeatedly shouted, “MY PUSS!” in frustration.

It’s unclear exactly why this particular outburst caught on with viewers, but catch on it did. Fans of the Game Grumps began creating memes and remixes of the “MY PUSS!” clip, and soon it became a full-blown internet phenomenon.

The Rise of the Game Grumps’ Wind Waker Meme

As the Game Grumps’ Wind Waker meme began to spread across the internet, it took on a life of its own. Fans created countless remixes, parodies, and mashups featuring the “MY PUSS!” clip, often combining it with other memes or pop culture references.

One of the most popular iterations of the meme was a remix that combined the “MY PUSS!” clip with the theme song from the popular ’90s sitcom Full House. The resulting video, titled “Full Puss,” has been viewed millions of times and remains one of the most iconic examples of the Game Grumps’ Wind Waker meme.
