The Birth of Twilight Memes
As with most internet trends, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly when Twilight memes started to gain popularity. However, it’s safe to say that the release of the first movie in the series back in 2008 played a big part in it. Fans of the books and movies took to social media to share their favorite moments and quotes from the series, often accompanied by funny images or videos. Over time, these posts evolved into what we now know as Twilight memes. From Bella’s clumsiness to Edward’s brooding, the series provides plenty of material for fans to make fun of. And with the rise of meme-making apps and websites, it’s easier than ever to create and share these hilarious images.
The Funniest Twilight Memes of 2023
So, what are some of the funniest Twilight memes of 2023? Let’s take a look:
“When you realize you’re 10 years older than Edward Cullen”
This meme features a picture of Edward Cullen (played by Robert Pattinson) looking brooding and intense, with the caption “When you realize you’re 10 years older than Edward Cullen.” It’s a funny reminder that the character is supposed to be over 100 years old, yet Pattinson himself is now in his mid-30s.
“Bella: *exists* Edward:”
This meme features a screenshot from the first Twilight movie, with Bella (played by Kristen Stewart) looking up at Edward with a worried expression. The caption reads “Bella: *exists* Edward:” followed by a picture of a lion ready to pounce. It’s a funny reference to Edward’s protective nature towards Bella in the series.
“When you finally understand the ‘spider monkey’ reference”
This meme features a picture of Bella and Edward in a tree, with the caption “When you finally understand the ‘spider monkey’ reference.” It’s a funny nod to a scene from the second Twilight movie, where Edward jumps from tree to tree with Bella on his back, calling himself a spider monkey.
What Fans are Saying
We reached out to some Twilight fans to get their thoughts on the meme trend. Here’s what they had to say: “I love the Twilight memes! They’re such a fun way to revisit the series and laugh at some of the more ridiculous moments.” “I think the memes are hilarious. They poke fun at the series in a loving way, and it’s great to see so many people still talking about Twilight after all these years.” “I’m not a huge fan of the memes, to be honest. I feel like they’re making fun of something that a lot of people genuinely love. But I understand that they’re meant to be lighthearted and fun, so I try not to take them too seriously.”
Conclusion
Love them or hate them, there’s no denying that Twilight memes are here to stay. They provide a fun way for fans of the series to come together and laugh at some of the more over-the-top moments. And who knows? Maybe in another 10 years, we’ll still be laughing at the same jokes.
