What are “Thots be like” memes?
“Thots be like” memes are a type of meme that makes fun of a certain type of woman, often called a “thot” (which stands for “that ho over there”). These memes typically feature a picture of a woman, often taken from social media, along with a caption that highlights something that “thots” are known for doing or saying. For example, a typical “thots be like” meme might show a woman taking a selfie with the caption “When you can’t find the perfect filter…”
These memes are often meant to be humorous, but they can also be seen as offensive. Many people feel that they are sexist and perpetuate harmful stereotypes about women. Others argue that they are simply a form of harmless humor and that people are taking them too seriously.
The rise of “Thots be like” memes
So why have “thots be like” memes become so popular? One reason may be the rise of social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, which have made it easy for people to share and create memes. Another reason may be the fact that these memes are often relatable – many people have had experiences with “thots” or know someone who fits the stereotype.
Some people also argue that “thots be like” memes are a way of reclaiming the term “thot” and making it less offensive. By using the term in a humorous way, they argue, people are taking away its power to hurt.
The controversy surrounding “Thots be like” memes
Despite their popularity, “thots be like” memes have also been the subject of controversy. Many people feel that they are sexist and perpetuate harmful stereotypes about women. Some have even called for them to be banned from social media platforms.
Others argue that people are taking the memes too seriously and that they are simply a form of harmless humor. They point out that there are many other types of memes that make fun of different groups of people, and that “thots be like” memes are just another example of this.
