But where did this meme come from, and why has it resonated with so many people?

The Origins of the Meme

The “Thick Thighs Saves Lives” meme first appeared on Twitter in 2015, when a user tweeted “Thigh gaps are overrated. Thick thighs save lives.” The tweet quickly went viral, with thousands of people sharing it and adding their own variations of the phrase. Soon, “Thick Thighs Saves Lives” became a hashtag, and it wasn’t long before it started appearing on t-shirts, mugs, and other merchandise.

At its core, the meme is a celebration of body positivity and a rejection of the unrealistic beauty standards that have been imposed on women for decades. By embracing their curves and rejecting the idea that thinness is the only path to beauty and happiness, women are reclaiming their power and sending a message to the world that they will no longer be defined by their size or shape.
