It’s hard to believe that it’s been a decade since The Walking Dead Telltale Games first made its debut. The game quickly became a fan favorite, not only for its gripping storyline but also for its memorable characters. But what really set it apart were the hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking memes that it spawned. Let’s take a walk down memory lane and revisit some of the most iconic Walking Dead Telltale memes.
Table of Contents
The Clem and Lee Dynamic
One of the most beloved dynamics in the game was that between Lee Everett and Clementine. Lee, a convicted murderer, takes on the responsibility of protecting Clementine, a little girl who has been left alone in the zombie apocalypse. The bond that forms between the two is heartwarming and often provides a much-needed reprieve from the otherwise bleak storyline.
One of the most popular memes to come out of this dynamic was the “Clem, look at this photograph” meme. In the game, Lee finds a photograph of his family and shows it to Clementine, saying “Clem, look at this photograph.” This line quickly became a meme, with people inserting different images into the scene, ranging from silly to downright bizarre.
“Clem, look at this photograph” also became a catchphrase in its own right, with fans using it to express their love for the game and its characters.
The Infamous Kenny
Kenny, a hot-headed but loyal member of the group, quickly became a fan favorite. He was often at odds with other characters, but his unwavering loyalty to his family (and later, to Lee and Clementine) made him endearing.
One of the most memorable memes to come out of the game was the “Oh my god, they killed Kenny” meme. This was a reference to a running gag in the TV show South Park, where Kenny McCormick would die in every episode. Fans of The Walking Dead Telltale Games would often joke that Kenny was going to die in the next episode, only to be proven wrong time and time again.
Another popular Kenny meme was the “I thought you were dead” meme. In the game, Kenny is presumed dead after a brutal fight with walkers. However, he later reappears, much to the surprise of the other characters. This scene became a meme, with people inserting different images into the scene to humorous effect.
The Heartbreaking Moments
As much as The Walking Dead Telltale Games was known for its humor, it was also known for its heartbreaking moments. One of the most memorable of these was the death of Lee Everett.
Lee, who had become a father figure to Clementine, is bitten by a walker and knows that he doesn’t have long to live. In one of the game’s most emotional scenes, Clementine is forced to shoot Lee to prevent him from turning into a walker.
This scene was so powerful that it spawned its own set of memes. One of the most popular was the “I’m not crying, you’re crying” meme, which showed a teary-eyed character trying to deny their emotions.
The Legacy of The Walking Dead Telltale Memes
It’s been a few years since the release of The Walking Dead Telltale Games, but the memes live on. Fans continue to create new memes and remix old ones, keeping the spirit of the game alive.
