The Plot
The episode starts with Cartman discovering internet memes and becoming obsessed with creating his own. He starts by making a meme of himself, which quickly goes viral. The other kids in South Park soon follow suit and start creating their own memes.
Meanwhile, the adults in the town are completely baffled by the phenomenon and don’t understand why their kids are spending all their time on the internet. They try to ban internet memes, but this only fuels the kids’ obsession.
The Commentary
The South Park writers have always been known for their social commentary, and this episode is no different. They use the world of internet memes to comment on a variety of issues, from the generational divide to the power of social media.
One of the most interesting aspects of the episode is the way it portrays the adults’ reaction to internet memes. They are completely out of touch with the internet culture and see it as nothing more than a silly fad. This is a commentary on the way older generations often dismiss new technologies and trends.
