The Evolution of DJ Memes on Reddit
The first DJ memes on Reddit were simple images with captions, poking fun at DJs who used too many effects or relied too heavily on pre-recorded sets. As the community grew, so did the humor, with more elaborate memes featuring popular DJs and festival experiences. Today, DJ memes on r/EDM are often topical and timely, referencing current events or controversies within the electronic music world.
One example of a popular DJ meme on Reddit is the “DJs be like” format, which features a photo of a DJ performing with a caption that pokes fun at common tropes in the industry. For example, a recent popular meme shows a DJ with their hand in the air, captioned “When the DJ drops the bass but it’s just a fart sound effect.”
